Do you wake up feeling tired and groggy? Are you going to bed early but still don’t feel fully rested in the morning? You may be having trouble sleeping through the entire night. The average adult needs between 7 and 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep to reach regenerative REM cycles. If you awake during the night due to coughing, sneezing, or other ailments, you may never reach a deep sleep and remain drowsy throughout the day.

In the past, logging these sleep disruptions was tedious at best. Traditional recorders left users pouring over hours of tapes trying to identify and write down each disruption. Sleep Analyzer simplifies the process by using a decibel threshold system and easy to navigate interface.

Simply place your iPhone next to your bed and set a decibel threshold for the night. Only sounds that exceed that threshold are recorded and stored for you to access the next day. The threshold system allows you to quickly overview the number of disturbances in a night, and avoid pouring through hours of recordings to document your sleep patterns.

The next morning you are able to scroll through each disruption. Disruptions can be replayed and classified as coughs, snores, sneezes, etc. You can store up to a month of sleep data and back-up data to a personal computer. The organized sleep logs can be used to identify recurring disturbances that can then be presented to a doctor or remedied through tailored changes to your sleep environment.

Don’t be satisfied with low quality sleep and poor energy levels – let Sleep Analyzer help you identify your problem and track your progress to a restful slumber!

FEATURES

Adjustable decibel threshold determines what sounds are recorded

Quickly view the number of disruptions in a night

Log, classify, and replay each disruption

Delay your recording to allow for music or sounds played as you fall asleep

Store up to a month of sleep data

Back-up your recordings to a personal computer using the free Sync Docs desktop application available at http://sourceforge.net/projects/syncdocs/

TIPS FOR OPTIMAL USE

Ensure iPhone’s microphone is unobstructed when you set it down

Ensure mute switch is OFF and ringer volume is set to max for optimal playback

If you use sounds or music to help you fall asleep use the timer to start the recording after your sleep aids are done playing

If your recordings show 0K file sizes and 0 disruptions, check your Sound Threshold. On the recording screen hit the Adjust Threshold button to see sound threshold and current noise levels. The current sound level must exceed the Sound Threshold to record a disruption.

iPod Touch REQUIRES the Apple Earphone with Remote and Mic attachment to be ATTACHED prior to starting the application to work (this does not apply to iPhone users)

Pros and cons of Sleep Analyzer app for iPhone and iPad

Sleep Analyzer app good for

I am often tired in the mornings and this might help me give my doctor a head start. I just recorded an hour and a half afternoon nap and it had 29 disruptions. Quite a few were sirens (I live in Brooklyn) but many were not. As a side note, as I am interested in paranormal activity, I will experiment with trying to capture EVPs with this. Who knows? Worth a try. In a future update I would like to be able to sync and export the distuptions I want to my mac as aiff files. Well done! Gus.
I didnt have any of the problems early reviewers mentioned. I found this product to work as advertised. I think it has great potential for validating and calibrating dental appliances that extend the lower jaw during sleep to avoid episodes of snoring and apnea.
Good ap. been using it a few nights and amazed that I only snored once, contrary to my wifes reports. Also found out the dogs barks almost every hr and although it never woke me up that I recall it still could be having an effect on my sleep.
This app worked GREAT! I took the time to set the sound level just above the sound of the covers moving and it picked up everything it should have and nothing more. Listened to it with earphones and I picked up all the sounds I made, plus a few sentences of nonsense as I talked in my sleep. I would love to see in future updates: - A graph or "Total Time:" summary when the night has all been analyzed - The ability to scroll through instances by category (listen to all the "Other" sounds) - The ability to export the data or even the recordings as mp3s Regardless, if you ever wondered what you sound like when you sleep this app is worth every penny!
I just found this app yesterday and used it for the first time last night. Over the past two and a half weeks I keep waking up around three a.m. Finally, this morning when I was listening to each disruption I heard a loud click and shortly after I could hear that I was tossing and turning. I had no idea that it was an external noise that MAY be waking me up. Im going to continue to use this until I find out what it is. Thanks for the app.
I love the application. I do however request that you allow the ability to add new classifications. If this is not feasible, would you please add fart to the list, seems as though theres a few every morning on my recordings somehow. Thanks!

Some bad moments

crashes on analyzing data, on trying to delete sleep data, osx app doesnt work
I kept this ap onmy iPhone for months, hoping the develepor would improve the software because the underlying concept is brilliant. However, the software doesnt function as advertised. It stops recording during the night - I have never yet been able to collect a single nights data! If the functionality improves, I shall come back to it.
This app only allows you to tag disruptions with "Sneeze" and "Cough"! How about sleep apnea, snoring, talking, external noises? It should at least allow you to add your own categories. This seems a pretty half hearted attempt at an app that should not sell for more than $1.
So I decided to buy this app because I sleep talk. The morning after I used it I went to "Analyze Data" but my iPhone wouldnt turn on. I almost had to restore everything. Also, I couldnt even check the data because it would not let me "Play Disruption" or even get to the next disruption. Horrible app.
Used the app, and it tries to do what it says, but it crashes, offers weird screen choices (eg all of a sudden all the recordings disappear etc.) Needs lots of work. Need to speed up the ui
Really wanted this app to work. I have fibromyalgia and the one thing that my doctor stresses is the importance of the quality of my sleep. I tried several settings when trying to use this app and made sure the mute was off as well as making sure the volume was on high. I pit tje phone unobstructed at the top of our bed but when checked in the morning did not pick up any nighttime noises except one episode of the air purifyer in my room that is a constant white noise. I know my husband shores very loudly and sometimes many times a night because Ive been woken fairly often and had to actually go to another room to return to sleep, if possible. But I often wake and cant figure out what has waken me. Since when I wake I often cant go back to sleep because of my insomnia, this would have been a good tool in helping identify sleep disturbances. Too bad. Maybe Ill keep the app in hopes that the makers will make some fixes for it. I really want this app to work eventually!
